Building a computer by hand is often cheaper than buying one from a store. If you bought a computer from a store it is generally marked up in price, therefore making it more expensive. Buying the parts seperately and assembling it yourself will save you a few hundred.

Assembing your own computer will offer better preformance than something pre-assembled. It will not have any sort of software pre-installed like many machines today.

By assembling a computer yourself, you will have some enhanced knowledge of your system. If any issues arise you can be somewhat informed of what is going on and attempt to fix it. Having this knowledge is important as we move forward in the digital age.
